FORMULA ONE HISTORY - Lauf 3

Versuch's mal mehrfach hintereinander.

Grüßle

@MCL34: Simply try it once again, maybe you have to try it twice or more. The connection to the fileserver seems to stuck a bit.

Hallo Zusammen,

I want to give my opinion about the fix setup, a "problem" I already saw in the last race.

In my opinion the fix setup is a really good idea so we do not need to spend a lot of time trying to make our best setup, so you just enter at the game and play, moreover we have all the same setup and that´s fair.

I also like that we can change between Soft, Medium and Hard tyres, it gives us the opportunity to race with different strategies.

The only problem I see is that we can change the tyre pressure, then "all" the benefits from a fix setup are gone since the tyre pressure can change a lot the behavior of the car and at the end there is not equity, that I thing is what we want to reach with the fix setup.

Sorry for writing in english.

Beste Grüße!

Hi Litos,

the tyre pressure is perhaps the most important component of the setup in AC, but being able to change the pressures doesn't take away the advantages of the fixed setup in my view. Though the setups really aren't perfectly equal this way, I will try to explain why I am very much in favor of adjustable pressures:

In AC there is one perfect pressure for your tyres (I think 26 psi for the warm tyre in most cases). At this pressure the tyre offers optimal grip, above and below this pressure you lose grip. I would never change the tyre pressure to influence the way the car drives and instead always try to get as close to the ideal pressure value. It is easy to find the perfect pressures by using apps like protyres (www.racedepartment.com/downloads/protyres.14030/). Everyone can get the maximum grip from their tyres, you don't need a deeper knowledge of setups, physics or anything. If you check out AC's files you can even find a .ini file for each car with the ideal pressure. Don't deviate from those values.

Different people have different drive styles, which will result in different pressures. A quick driver puts high forces on the tyres whiles cornering or braking, which results in higher temperatures. As a consequence this driver will set a lower pressure compared to a cautious, slower driver. Since there is a significant gap between the faster and slower drivers on our servers, this results in rather large differences in pressure.

So if there is a fixed pressure, it will always only fit a few people's speed and driving style. There would always be some driving with way to high or low pressures, which just isn't enjoyable. Being able to change the pressures gives everyone the opportunity to get the absolut best from the provided setup.

I hope you can also see the advantages of adjustable pressures now - I certainly wouldn't like it any other way.

Cheers!

Great explanation Haggard. Me and i suppose most of the others will totally agree with you.
The thoughts you've given actually were the same we had, to decide about leaving pressure fix or not.
